Happy Art Friday, everyone. :) This sculpture is by Lynn Christopher. The first image is the final bronze sculpture. The second and third are of the artist's proof, cast in marble resin.

What I find amazing about this particular piece, "Surrender," is how the heck is it standing up? It must be so precisely balanced. That in and of itself awes me. And then, there's the beauty of the form. I love the woman's hair. If you'd like to view more of Christopher's work visit her website.

Artist: Michael R. Allison

Happy Art Friday! I love glass sculpture. Michael Allison combines industrial manufactured items, namely faucets, with the fluid shapes of blown glass. This is called "Sap." I just love it.


This other piece is called "fire House." Artist: Patrick Dougherty

Happy Art Friday, friends! Today I'm featuring the awesome (literally!) work of Patrick Dougherty. He works with saplings on a grand scale. This first piece is called Just Around the Corner, and it's installed at the University of Southern Indiana. Don't you just want to wander inside and, I don't know, sit in the dark? LOL

This next piece has the BEST title: Doin The Locomotion. More proof that titles of artwork can really increase the enjoyment/understanding of art.

Finally, my favorite. Na Hale 'o waiawi (Wild Dwellings Built From Strawberry Guava) The super cool part is that this can be seen at the Contemporary Art Museum, Honolulu, Hawaii, and I'M GOING THERE IN JANUARY!!! Gotta love time share exchanges.

Artist: Arne Quinze

Welcome to another Friday Gallery Showing on my blog. This is a photo of Arne Quinze, an installation artist. Here, he is working on a piece called Cityscape, installed in Brussels on September 14, 2007, and I don't know if it's still there. I imagine it is. This must have taken forever to construct and probably cost beaucoup bucks, so I'm sure the city of Brussels plans to get their money's worth out of it.

I am amazed by this because it looks so random, but you know it can't be. It had to be meticulously designed or else it might collapse. This bird's eye view allows you to see how huge it is.

And I am suddenly wondering how they kept the birds from soiling it.

I know. I'm weird.

Artist: Bruno Torfs

How quickly Friday arrives! If you are a regular visitor, you know I feature some art every Friday. I think it may hearken back to when I was in grade school and Friday was always art day. Anyway, this week I'm displaying some sculpture that is part of one of the most amazing gardens in the world.

According to Bruno Torf's website:
"Bruno Torfs created a sculpture garden that he would run as a permanent attraction, open to the public in Marysville, Australia.... The garden began with just fifteen life sizes terracotta sculptures, but today there are over one hundred and fifteen pieces on display and Bruno is still making regular additions. The unique experience of the garden and its wondrous inhabitants attracts thousands of visitors a year. Bruno and the family still live there and always take great pleasure in being able to share their magnificent art treasure with all that come."
