Two Choices #4: Top or Front?

I was filling out a survey for Harris Polls Online (where I earn points for prizes) and it was asking me about my next washer purchase. Did I anticipate a front loading machine or a top loading machine? Luckily, one of the choices was "I don't know." I know nothing about front loading machines because I've only ever used top loaders. HOWEVER, now that I think about it, I always have trouble snatching the last few socks from the bottom of the well because I'm so short. So, next time I'll be getting a front loader.

What about you?

  1. We've got a front loader now, after years and years and years of a top loader, and I've got to say, I don't like it as much. With a top loader washer and dryer I never had to worry about the wet clothes falling to the floor as I transferred them to the dryer (because they were side by side), but now I'm always dropping clothes as I move them to the dryer and it bugs me. Just my little two cents. :)

  2. We have top-loaders in our building. However, a friend has a front loader and loves it. They are supposed to use less detergent, water, and energy, thereby saving you money.

  3. Ah. Thanks for the info, Heather.

Robin, our dryer is front load. Our washer is top load. It's annoying. I always throw the clothes into hamper, then two-handed, toss them into the dryer.

I guess it beats going to the river and thrashing the clothes against rocks, though.
